SpaceX's $40 Billion Bid for Nvidia Chips Shows How the AI Boom Is Being Financed

Cartoon illustration of a rocket lifting a giant GPU chip toward orbit.

SpaceX is in talks to raise 40 billion dollars — about 10 billion in bank loans and 30 billion in investment-grade debt — to buy Nvidia AI chips, the Financial Times reported on October 6, 2026, with Reuters and Bloomberg confirming the outlines the following day. Apollo Global Management is expected to lead the financing and place the debt with institutional investors, with bond fund Pimco among a small group of lenders in talks. If completed, the deal would close in 2027 and would rank among the largest debt financings ever tied to the AI buildout.

Cisco Rushes Patches for Critical Root-Privilege Flaws in Nexus Switches

Cartoon illustration of a network switch with warning lights receiving a shield patch.

Cisco published security advisory cisco-sa-ngoam-rce-LWKQ4BU on October 7, 2026, covering three critical vulnerabilities — CVE-2026-76485, CVE-2026-76486, and CVE-2026-76501 — in the Next Generation Operation, Administration, and Maintenance (NGOAM) feature of NX-OS software on Nexus 3000 and standalone-mode 9000 Series switches. Each scores CVSS 9.8: an unauthenticated remote attacker can send crafted packets to an IP interface and execute code with root privileges, or crash processes and force device reloads in a denial-of-service attack.

Alibaba Cloud Pulls Back the Curtain on Its Homegrown AI Compute Empire

Cartoon illustration of a towering liquid-cooled AI server rack wrapped in glowing blue cooling pipes, with stylized computer chips on each server module.

Enterprise IT has a new supply-chain reality to reckon with. At its recent Apsara Conference, Alibaba Cloud laid out the most complete picture yet of a self-developed AI compute stack that runs from silicon to full rack-scale clusters — and it is considerably deeper than most Western observers assumed.

Ransomware Takes Down IDCF Cloud Region in Japan — 495 Organizations Offline, Data May Be Unrecoverable

Cartoon illustration of a data center where a red locked server rack marks the ransomware-compromised zone while scissors cut a network cable to isolate the attack.
A ransomware attack on one of Japan's enterprise cloud providers has knocked a slice of the country's digital infrastructure offline — and the company now says customer data in the affected zones may be gone for good. IDC Frontier, the SoftBank-owned data center and cloud operator, disclosed on October 7, 2026 that unauthorized third-party access began at roughly 3:40 a.m. Japan time in part of its IDCF Cloud service.
